Large Mammal

Canada Lynx

The big-footed cat made for snow

Hi, Hansel & Gretel!

Hansel and Gretel have called the park home since they were just a few months old. Now over 10 years old, their camouflage-colored fur makes them experts at blending in, and you’ll often spot them curled up napping among the trees and rocks in their enclosure.

Home

Common in boreal forests of northern, western, and eastern Maine.

In the Wild

Maine has the largest lynx population in the lower 48 states. Their huge furry feet provide snowshoe-like support in deep snow. Lynx are good climbers and have excellent eyesight.
