Rural Housing Preservation Grant Program
General information
The Rural Housing Service (RHS) announces a notice in funding availability under its Housing Preservation Grant (HPG) program. The HPG program is a grant program which provides qualified public agencies, private nonprofit organizations, which may include but not be limited to, Faith-Based and Community Organizations, and other eligible entities grant funds to assist very low- and low-income homeowners in repairing and rehabilitating their homes in rural areas. In addition, the HPG program assists rental property owners and cooperative housing complexes in repairing and rehabilitating their units if they agree to make such units available to low- and very low-income persons.

Grant eligibility
Eligible entities include state and local governments, nonprofit organizations, which may include, but are not limited to faith-based and community organizations; federally recognized Indian tribes; and consortia of eligible entities.
Potential applicants must meet the eligibility requirements of 7 CFR 1944.658 and 1944.686 as applicable. Applicants must meet the definition of “organization” as defined in 7 CFR 1944.656.
Areas that may be served include:
- Rural areas and towns with 20,000 or fewer people
- Federally recognized Tribal lands
